The Great and Terrible Love of God
March 7th, 2010
Eric Landry
Part of the The Gospel of John series.
We say that God is love and that God loves but do we really grasp the meaning or significance of what we say? It’s easy to misunderstand God’s love for us because our love for others is so often self-directed while God’s love is not. In this, the most famous verse of the Bible, we come face to face with God’s love: conceived not as a character trait or feeling but as an action. The action centers on the giving of Jesus, God’s son and it results in our giving ourselves as God’s new sons.
